The QUESTemp° III is a datalogging Personal Heat Stress Monitor. Based on extensive research funded by the Electric Power Research institute and performed by Westinghouse Electric and Pennsylvania State University, it monitors both body temperature and heart rate to calculate individual body strain in response to heat stress. It uses a two-stage audio/visual alarm. The first stage "Warning Alert" indicates that conditions are approaching a level where there is a limited amount of time to work. The second stage "Action Alert" indicates that the worker should stop work immediately and take necessary actions. The watertight lightweight monitor assembly can be slipped into a shirt pocket or clipped to a belt while the elastic sensor belt assembly is worn comfortably around the chest. It is programmable for the appropriate age group and clothing type of the individual being monitored. Heart rate, temperature, and heat strain alert status are recorded once every minute and stamped with the date and time to correlate events and pinpoint problems. Output recorded data directly to a serial printer or download to QuestSuite Professional software, "The System Solution" for storage, retrieval, analysis, reporting, and charting of all your heat stress monitoring data.
